It's Been 5 Months Since I Pivoted

5 Months. 3 Pivots. 1 Alignment. The Moment Everything Finally Aligned.

It's been 5 months since I pivoted. Well, actually, if I'm being honest, I've pivoted three times.
It started in March. My partner-client needed to step back. My monthly cashflow was gradually gone, and I remember that specific feeling, not panic exactly, more like the floor quietly tilting under me.
So that first month, I did what felt urgent. I sat down, fed my own resume into my AI tools, and just started brainstorming, what can I actually build with what I already have. That's also where the first real shape of my framework came from, born out of necessity, not out of some grand plan.
I built a membership site. Created 3 courses. Started promoting everything I could, as fast as I could. And for a month, maybe two, nothing. No real traction. I was so pressured by the loss of that income that I got completely tunnel-visioned on conversion. Just get people in. Just make something happen.
Here's the irony I didn't see at the time: I'd already built the CONNECT Framework. I just wasn't applying it to myself. I was hiding behind SK Learning Online, the name I'd used to build my membership site, and it showed. Barely any traction. I was teaching a system I hadn't fully lived in yet.
So I made a decision. I was going to rebuild my personal brand, for real this time.

Building Quietly

I hopped on Namecheap, searched around, typed in name after name, until one finally felt right: Sri Marketer. I built a simple website. Then I added a blog, and I named it The Quiet Builder, because that's exactly what I was doing. Building quietly. No big promotion plan, no launch strategy, just creating things I actually cared about. And honestly? I enjoyed that part more than I expected to. There was no pressure in it. No one was watching yet.
Then I got active on LinkedIn again, but differently this time. With actual purpose. Sharing the real journey, not just the polished wins.
A month in, I launched my newsletter, AI Insights with Sri. Within a month, I'd gained 1,000 subscribers out of my 8,000-person network. I still feel genuinely grateful every time I think about that, that many people chose to keep showing up for what I had to say.
From there, I just kept creating. Text posts, AI images, carousels, AI video podcasts. Every format I could reasonably manage on my own, always trying to make sure whatever I put out had something someone could actually learn from, actually resonate with. I was busy. I felt productive. My whole tool stack was running, and I leaned on every piece of it.

The One Tool I Never Touched

But there was one tool in that stack I never really touched: a brand positioning report.
And honestly? I didn't think I needed it. I know my brand, I told myself. I know my offer. That's for companies just starting out, not someone already doing the work every single day.
Then one day in July, out of nowhere, I got curious. No real plan behind it. Just, let me try this. So I opened it up and started answering the questions.
And somewhere in the middle of it, I got stuck.
I didn't know how to answer. I sat there, cursor blinking, realizing I couldn't actually tell you my own vision. My own mission. I didn't have a clear ICP written down anywhere. No real SWOT. Nothing. I was stunned, genuinely stunned, at how much I didn't actually know about the business I was building every single day.
That was the moment it clicked. That was when I finally understood what brand positioning was actually for.

Everything Aligned

Once I worked through it and got the full report, everything came into focus. Who I'm really doing this for. Who my ICP actually is. What makes me different, stated plainly, not guessed at. I downloaded it, fed it straight into my AI tools, and the difference was immediate. The output changed. It felt like the tools had learned more of me, like they were finally speaking in my voice, understanding what I was actually trying to do, not just what I was typing in the moment.
Those tools had been working with me for months already. But this time, something was different. My own site's AI-visibility score even reflected it, climbing across the audits that followed. Everything just felt aligned, like pieces that had been sitting on the table finally clicked into their spots.

What I'm Learning

What I keep realizing throughout this whole journey is that I shouldn't be afraid to keep pivoting. I've been watching people I genuinely look up to in this industry, learning constantly from how they built what they built. But here's the thing I've also learned: everyone's journey is different. What worked for them might not work for me. We're all walking different paths, and it really comes down to how persistent we're willing to be, and how our own experiences shape our resilience along the way.
I'm now in month 5 of this pivot. So what have I actually achieved so far? My CONNECT Framework workflow is more improved and aligned now, from Clarify all the way through Nurture. That's my main focus right now, providing real value, sharing what I've learned, and just continuing to show up.
The last pillar, Convert? I know it's coming. I'm working toward it. Traction takes time. But the value I've built and sharpened along this journey, that's the most valuable asset I actually have right now.

If This Sounds Familiar

If any part of this story sounds familiar, if you've ever felt like you're doing everything right and still not seeing it translate, I want to tell you something.
I'm opening up a small number of spots to work with a handful of businesses, completely free, in exchange for your honest feedback. Not a sales pitch. Not a funnel. I genuinely want to know where the gaps still are, in my process, my framework, my offer, and the only way I know how to find that out is by actually doing the work alongside real people like you.
If you're a coach, consultant, or solo business owner who's curious what brand positioning could reveal about your own business, I'd love to work with you.
